eligible for the Canadian Government Children's Fitness Tax
Credit.
MacSailing's popular Youth Summer Programs run
Monday to Friday each week of the summer and are available in
either the morning (9:00am to noon) or the afternoon (1:00 -
4:00pm). Lessons are taught in Optimists for children ages 7-10 and
in Escapes for those aged 10-14. We offer a fun week of sailing
aimed at giving the best instruction around.
The following programs/schedule are available
for 2008:
Level I students share a boat with
another student and can expect to learn how to rig and de-rig the
boats, capsize recovery, understanding the wind, how to tack and
how to tie knots. Level II is a continuation of level I, however,
students can now sail by themselves. In Level II students are
introduced to the different points of sail and the basic rules of
the road, They will be taught how to sail in stronger winds and
waves along with proper seamanship. Level III provides an
introduction to racing.
Level I and II courses are prerequisite
for more advanced courses.
