MacSailing
offers a variety of programs to school groups in
Vancouver
 MacSailing
offers an exciting range of low cost programs tailored for
school groups aged 7-21 years
of age. An excellent fit for primary school, high school, college
or ESL programs. Your group will experience the thrills of sailing
and enjoy the benefit of being taught by CYA certified
instructors.
Our certified
instructors will take you through dry-land simulation, sailing
theory and on-the-water instruction, all during a three (3) hour
lesson. Students acquire an understanding of ocean sailing
conditions and develop a foundation for other sailing activities
and basic water safety.
AVAILABLE PROGRAMS:
INTRO
TO SAILING
This three hour course
introduces students to sailing and the sea. Our certified
instructors will explain and demonstrate technique, points of sail,
steering and balance. Our focus is on-water activities so that
students have an opportunity to experience sailing for
themselves.
Cost
is $30.00/student (minimum of 10
students)
INTRO PLUS
 This is a 6 hour
course where students come for more than one session. Multiple
on-water sessions helps with skill development. Participants learn
to steer, trim the sail and balance the boat in a fun safe
environment. In addition to the above, students will learn
basic boating safety, seamanship and how to tie knots.
Cost
is $50.00/student (minimum of 10
students)
WHITE
SAIL I
A 15 hour program
conducted over a flexible set of dates. This program follows the
Canadian Yachting Association White Sail I Curriculum. The program
includes sailing in different wind conditions, touring English Bay,
understanding sailing theory and water safety.
Cost
is $110.00/student (minimum of 10
students)
OUR
BOATS:
MacSailing has four
fleets of boats so that participants can sail boats that match
their physical size and capabilities. Students usually sail two or
three per boat depending on the wind condition and class
size.
SAILING
GEAR:
 Knowing that
beginners may not have easy access to essential sailing clothing,
MacSailing happily supplies life jackets and wet suits for all
students. Participants only need to bring a bathing suit, towel,
water shoes and a change of clothes.
LOCATION:
MacSailing is located
within Jericho Sailing Centre at Jericho Beach Park. The Centre has
full changing facilities with hot showers, 600 parking stalls and a
cafeteria overlooking English Bay and the North Shore
Mountains.
BOOKINGS:
Bookings are available
from mid April to late June and early September to mid-October.
Available time slots are 9am-12pm; 12:30pm- 3:30pm; or
3:30pm-6:30pm. Please call MacSailing at 224-SAIL (7245) or e-mail

to schedule your group bookings.
A $100.00
non-refundable deposit is due at the time of group booking. The
number of students participating must be confirmed one week prior
to the course starting date. The balance of fees are due at that
time.
